University Center to host free genealogy assistance
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is offering free genealogy assistance, "Searching for Your Ancestors," from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 18 at the University Center, 2205 Career Ave. North. Participants will be assisted by trained researchers during individual help sessions throughout the day. A computer lab also will be set up to aid amateurs. Mormon church, rabbis tackle proxy baptism
SALT LAKE CITY - The Mormon church says it has changed its genealogical database to better prevent the names of Jews killed in Nazi concentration camps from being submitted for posthumous baptism by proxy.
